Kurt's Corner

We were once a nation of porches, decks and patios. Spring called us outside to breathe the air of hope and opportunity born in the season's new growth.
Summer insisted further, to enjoy backyard sports and barbecues, neighbors and friends. I'm old enough to remember a house without air conditioning, playing with friends until supper and then again until dark.
And Fall, my favorite. Autumn colors warmed crisp cool nights. Weekends spent watching football and raking leaves, the sun kindly setting early, to reward us for a job well done. Screened in porches are largely gone from new homes, and decks and patios remain mostly vacant, victims of air conditioning and electronic entertainment.  But not for us!
We cigar smokers still know the joys of the outdoors. We have taken back the patios and porches, reached out to friends and neighbors. It's our favorite place to enjoy ourselves and our cigars - together.* We are remaking a nation of porches, decks and patios, of camaraderie, conversation and friendship.
I recently replaced a deck with a screened in porch, adding a fireplace. I hope to make Winter one of my outdoor seasons. I hope you enjoy yours!

New 7mm Twist Punch!

The redesigned 7mm punch now features a modern and minimalistic style combined with a sharp 7mm blade. The smooth twist action quickly exposes or hides the blade, and locks it at 3 depths. The large key ring makes it easy to take on the go.

Cutter Etiquette FAQ

By Tobacconist University
Cigar Cutters touch the head of the cigar that will touch your mouth; so they must be kept clean. Tobacconists must have sanitary procedures in place to keep cutters clean and protect their customers. Every day customers put a cigar in their mouth and then ask for a cut or cutter. Or has your friend did this to you?
Standard hand sanitizing gels can be used to sanitize a Cigar Cutter and blade. Simply use your hands or a paper towel to carefully coat the cutter with sanitizing gel, remove excess, and allow to dry for a few minutes.
All Cigar Cutters need an occasional cleaning as tobacco and oils accumulate. Often, the debris and oil can inhibit the cutting and/or movement of the blades. To clean blades, apply a solution of warm water and antibacterial soap with a cotton swab or cloth, then wipe dry. Also, remove any tobacco and debris from the cutter’s frame.

Support The Art of Elysium!

Over the past few years, Kurt's brother-in-law, Michael Coulter, has the wonderful opportunity to write and perform music for children who are suffering from serious medical conditions though a charity called The Art of Elysium. The real beauty in performing with The Art of Elysium is in the transformation that occurs when a child’s attention is turned, if only briefly, away from struggle and towards hope. It is in that moment that our lives are changed. This experience inspired Michael to create a donation only, “music for charity” production company called SongCauze.
SongCauze has collected 15 musical artists who have generously donated their hearts and souls and have provided a piece of music as a donation to The Art of Elysium. The online collection of tracks is called “Elysium Sessions” and they are uploaded to iTunes. Every “Elysium Sessions” iTunes purchase is a donation to benefit The Art of Elysium.  Thanks for your support!
